We Have Become Too Reliant on Electronics

New Book Technology Cartoon

Think about it. In this day and age we use electronics for everything; which make us very reliant to it. Cell phones are not only used for calls, but taking pictures and browsing the internet. Our books come in digital formats compatible with e-book readers. Even our computers can now be used to make phone calls, and to find answers to our questions. But is all this change good?

We may perhaps become too attached to all this electronic technology illustrated by the cartoon above. Instead we should also invest some of our time into older technologies such as writing by hand or reading a book. The older technologies we have that are not electronic are also advance in their own little way, and something that we should all embrace.

Boxing Day?

Boxing Day

Today is ‘boxing day’ in Canada. A consumer ritual where people spend their hard earned dollars on the ‘best deals’ of the year. The ‘best deals’ however are probably mediocre, and the time could be spent better elsewhere.

People wake up early just to line up in hopes for getting their goods cheap. But with time spent like that, much more could be done like:

  • Working (you would probably make more than you can save lining up)
  • Having another day of relaxing (shopping is highly stressful)

These consumer rituals brought out by corporations are clearly profit generating. It is perceived that you can save, but how much can you really save? Perhaps it is better to buy when you need, and not to participate in such a crazy scheme. After all, are you really going to use everything that you buy?

So it’s Thanksgiving (for Canadians), the time of year where plenty of food is served, and you always have to have turkey right? Well this year, I will most likely eat more chicken breast than turkey. For the most part because it tastes better but there are other reasons.

My Introduction

So welcome to my brand new spiffy blog, all simplistic and clean. This communicative technology will be used as an outlet for my ramblings. These ramblings are not limited from the snippets of code I may write to random videos on youtube. It’s all good as I will use this as a free flow for ideas in my head to explore.

I hope to not make this like tumblr, or facebook where one-sentencers are sufficient. But a tool that can help me gather my thoughts, that I have gathered throughout the day.

Anyways, I’m going off for now.
